A little island just off the coast that feels a million miles away.
She might be called the Grey Lady, but this seafaring island is far more colorful with all the Nantucket Reds (those famously faded salmon-colored canvas trousers) drifting down cobblestoned Main Street. Getting There
By Land
Located 30 miles south of Cape Cod, Nantucket is easily reached by a 1-hour high-speed ferry from Hyannis. Daily parking is available by the dock for a fee. The Cottages & Lofts offer pick-ups for Hy-Line Cruises ferry services. Automobiles are discouraged on the island, but should you want to bring your car, the Steamship Authority offers a car ferry that takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. Advance reservations are required.
By Air
Several major airlines, including JetBlue, offer connections to Nantucket Memorial Airport via Cape Air. Cape Air also offers direct flights from Boston and White Plains, New York. JetBlue and Delta offer direct flights from New York, as well and there is service from Baltimore. Those driving to Hyannis can also opt for a 15-minute plane ride on Nantucket Airlines in lieu of the ferry. A seasonal shuttle runs between the airport and downtown, and taxis and rental cars are also available.
