Called “the most unusual and significant New York building in Years” by The New York Observer, The Standard High Line, New York is an 18-story hotel arched above the Meatpacking District's one-time elevated railway turned park. Floor-to-ceiling windows—opening to skyline or Hudson River views—accentuate each room, whose plush beds derail all trains of thought. And as one of TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice 2011 trendiest hotels, the property's chic rooftop bar makes it easy to ride high above Manhattan. All aboard.

Out & About
The Meatpacking District in Manhattan was once a major industrial center. Now, with features like an innovative public park in place of the old elevated railway and posh boutiques occupying many of the meatpacking plants, this is an off-the-beaten-path destination in an otherwise touristy city.
