We live in Brooklyn and love going to Manhattan for special occasions like Valentine's Day or birthdays.  I decided to book a room at the Ace Hotel for my boyfriend's birthday.  We ate at the John Dorey for Valentine's Day and I thought it would be fun to stay there a night or two.  The hotel and service is great.  The decor, the feel, ambiance.  It's modern, eclectic, and fun.  Yes, I would stay there again BUT, in the room, we couldn't find a place to plug in our electronics.  We had to take the head board off the bed to find a power cord on the floor.  Luckily, the headboard was soft, like a couch and semi easy to move.  The the room was 62 degrees, THE ENTIRE TIME!  It was very cold.  When we called the front desk, they told us it was an old building but they didn't come up with a solution.  Luckily, the bed was SOOOO comfortable and cozy, we didn't feel the frigid air at night and slept late into the morning hours.  So, here you can see my problem; simple fixes to a great weekend.  If the Ace Hotel can do something with their heat and plug-in situation, it would be a perfect weekend. For a while the slacker meets hipster (slackster?)  attitude was a bit of an issue, but balanced with great coffee at Stumptown (which saves on room service) ..I was sort of happy, and it was way better than the generic brands in Times Square where my office is.  Still, At some point I decided to stop using the place - probably when they lost my shirts and asked if I could pick them up the day after  my flight home to London&quot;.
